Superintendent: staffing strong, emergency safety simulation planned before school starts

Alex said staffing "continues to go really well throughout the summer. We're filling positions as they become available, posting positions, and, things are continue to look really good for our staffing for the 1st day of school on September 8." He also noted the district's partnership with the Monroe County Sheriff's Department and that the district will conduct an "emergency school safety simulation on Monday, August 17" at the junior-high and senior-high campus to make the community aware there will be substantial activity on those campuses that day.
The board did not take additional action on the staffing update during the meeting; the simulation was described as a coordinated exercise with local law enforcement to test response procedures and public notification steps before students return.
