Community education reports program disruptions, Latch Key to raise fees 50¢

The community-education representative reported that "the rec leagues, girls and soft girls softball and t ball are finishing this week after adding extra re extra weeks due to the extreme heat and smoke this summer," and said many teams "had to reschedule games for both softball and tee ball due to heat, smoke, and rain." The report also noted driver-education scheduling changes: the fall driver's-ed schedule will be announced next week and the district is temporarily losing one instructor in October and November but will reassign other instructors to cover those months.
Officials said Latch Key fall registration will open in mid-August for the 2026–27 school year and that "We will be increasing prices by 50¢ to help offset the rising costs of staff and incidentals." The health-van program continues to add clientele and the district is exploring a GPS-style driver-assist system for vans, although there is "No firm timetable has yet been established."
