Colorado Northwestern Community College students and their aviation program director asked the council for help closing a roughly $7,000 fundraising gap to send the team to nationals. The council agreed to provide $3,500 from the town’s public-giving account, with members encouraging additional fundraising and offering to consider further assistance if needed.
Student co-captain John Roberts and aviation program director Nathan Arnold outlined trip costs and fundraising work already under way. “We—e raised about $33,000. We need about $40,000 because we're traveling to Wisconsin,” Roberts said. Arnold added that the team is one of only two two‑year schools at nationals and that hosting regionals in Rangely next year could provide local economic benefit. The council moved and approved a $3,500 contribution; members suggested additional outreach and sponsorship opportunities to help the team close the gap.
