Moon Lake Electric adviser fields questions on nuclear feasibility, Deseret supply and coal‑plant life

Dean Sellers, legal administrative adviser with Moon Lake Electric Association, told the Rangely Town Council he could take local questions back to Moon Lake’s general manager and wholesale provider Deseret Generation & Transmission.
Sellers said he could not provide definitive answers about the feasibility of siting small nuclear generation on Moon Lake’s grid but that the topic is under discussion at the regional level. Asked about the Craig coal station and coal supply, he said Deseret is installing selective catalytic reduction (SCR) equipment and that, if permits are in place, that work could prolong the plant’s life ‘‘to 2035, at least’’ in his understanding. Sellers offered to contact Deseret for more detailed feasibility information.
Council members and residents asked whether the town could directly tie a hypothetical reactor into Moon Lake’s distribution; Sellers explained Moon Lake is a distribution cooperative and its wholesale supplier is Deseret, and that detailed feasibility questions would need to go to Deseret. He also named David Crabtree as the current general manager of Deseret and described organizational continuity at the utility.
