Eric Luchansky of the Accomack-Northampton Planning District Commission updated the council on the Northeast Neighborhood Revitalization project, reporting completed rehabilitation at 15 Watson Street and work underway at 30 Boundary Street (new roof, windows and HVAC, and interior remodel). Luchansky said 5 Spady Lane is receiving a facelift and that bids were solicited for upcoming projects at 4 Cross Street and 12 Church Street. He also reported that three derelict homes have been demolished and two more were scheduled for demolition in March 2025.
The update framed the work as a mix of rehabilitation and selective demolition to return houses to habitable condition; Luchansky noted families have moved back into rehabilitated homes and emphasized contractor selection for forthcoming projects.
