Chairperson Greer proposed the commission begin by reviewing the current comprehensive plan and an American Planning Association primer and asked commissioners to read the first ~15 pages before the next meeting. Members discussed dividing responsibilities by topic area (for example, water, transportation) so commissioners can develop subject-matter familiarity and lead public outreach in their assigned areas.
Greer said public input will be important to the process and suggested the commission treat the next meeting as a seminar to work through the primer and outline a public-outreach plan. Staff agreed to provide GIS and zoning maps and larger printed parcel maps for a focused May session on the official zoning map so the commission can prepare recommendations for council adoption.
