Committee pursues AARP accessibility grant and seeks 100% training compliance; newsletter will remain mailed

Jamie Carano Nordenstrom reported that she applied for an AARP grant to procure handicapped-accessible picnic tables and chairs for Hillsdale Park; grant awards will be announced at the end of May and award amounts in June, and the committee should advise on the type of equipment that would best serve park users.
On training, Jamie said several committee members participated in a March 19 sexual-harassment-in-the-workplace session and that future classes will be scheduled for those who missed it; she said she would "like 100% compliance." Tammy Gaskell of the Roe Jan Community Library asked the committee to announce interest in a library exercise offering for people with Parkinson's disease to help determine community demand.
The group discussed whether to continue printing and mailing the quarterly newsletter or limit distribution to email subscribers; members decided to continue sending printed copies by regular mail as well as email. Members also proposed taking a group photograph of the committee for its Facebook page. The next committee meeting is scheduled for April 25, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Cook and Larder.
