The Safe at Home Committee finalized its mission statement at the March 21 meeting. Mary Lou Kersten, the committee secretary, read the adopted language: "The Safe at Home Committee was established in 2018. The mission of the committee is to ensure that seniors living in Hillsdale get the knowledge they need to remain safe at home, and services that will ensure the highest quality of life. The committee will offer residents information about local resources and services, engage with the town's seniors to assess needs, provide opportunities for socialization and will make recommendations to the Town Board as needed."
Committee members said the wording reflects the group's ongoing focus on information-sharing, need assessment and social programming for older residents. The statement will be used in outreach materials and on the committee's online pages to clarify purpose for residents and partner organizations.
