Acting Mayor Mary Westfall introduced Resolution No. 6-2026, which directs placement of an initiative petition on the November 3, 2026 ballot. Councilmember Bryony reported that the board of elections had certified the petition, noting "there were 380 valid signatures" compared with roughly 298 required, and the council approved the resolution as an emergency measure.
Councilmembers moved and seconded the resolution by title and carried the measure by voice vote. Westfall said the legislation follows the city charter process and represents the procedural step needed to advance the petition for elector consideration in November.
