Safe at Home committee finalizes 2025 Coffee Hour lineup for Hillsdale seniors

The Safe at Home Committee on March 21 approved a lineup of presenters for its 2025 Coffee Hour series running March through December, with organizers assigned for each month. Joyce Ferrentino, the committee organizer, said the March session will feature "an OLLI representative and an associate" to discuss OLLI offerings and history and that she will demonstrate the AARP balance exercise if time allows.
Committee members confirmed speakers and hosts for subsequent months: April — a hospice representative coordinated by Rene, with Dr. Carol Curran supplying a photo; May — Nico Hernandez on gardening (coordinator Shirley Bresler); June 24 — Peter Cipkowski on artificial intelligence (coordinator Patti Rohrlich); July — Bill Kramer, CEO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, on the state of the film industry (coordinator Patti Rohrlich); August — Dan Levy on building a passive home (coordinator Rene); and September — a session on the importance of human contact and therapeutic touch (Rene to contact Caroline Wheeler of Pumpkin Hollow for potential speakers).
Members discussed November and December options, including a possible presentation by Thad Harshbharger, PhD, on sleep or a joint talk by Jaffe and Drake on local birds, and a December holiday gathering. The committee also suggested future Coffee Hour topics such as music therapy, horticultural therapy, an easy art class from the Hillsdale Art School, and gardener Christine Dotker.
Organizers asked staff to collect background information and photographs for promotional materials. The committee plans to use the confirmed lineup in outreach and calendar listings for senior programming in Hillsdale.
