Daniels County commissioners revised the county’s longevity schedule and approved a merit-based longevity addition during the July 20 meeting.
Committee member (S2) proposed a longevity schedule that provides $0.50 for every five years of employment, applied to permanent full-time employees and separate from COLA, with merit-based supervisor recommendations. Commissioners discussed anniversary timing and how to catch employees up for prior service; they approved the motion to adopt the revised longevity policy. A separate proposal to add an 80¢ per-hour increase for non-elected employees was raised and scheduled for separate motion and follow-up discussion.
The board directed payroll and HR staff to implement the longevity schedule consistent with anniversary dates or a brief catch-up process, and to return with necessary payroll steps and cost estimates.
