City seeks $1.95 million for Columbia Gas pipeline relocation tied to Chester Road widening

Law Director John Gasior described Ordinance No. 72-26 as a critical step to advance the Chester Road widening between Jaycox Road and Nagel Road by authorizing the Mayor to enter a pipeline relocation agreement with Columbia Gas of Ohio, Inc. City Engineer Ryan Cummins described the relocation as approximately 2,100 lineal feet beginning east of Jaycox Road and moving the line to the south side of Chester Road across parcels including the former driving range and the Petitti Garden Center frontage.
Finance Director Steve Presley confirmed $1,950,000 has been set aside and is available in the fund for the gas-line relocation. Gasior and Cummins said the developer R7 Motors (the Rafih Group) previously granted additional right-of-way and a 30-foot Columbia Gas easement to facilitate widening; the relocation must begin promptly to meet mobilization and material lead times and to keep the developer's schedule for dealership openings by Jan. 1, 2028.
