Board adopts annual fee schedule revisions including solid waste, jail and recorder fees

County Administrator Kelly Schroeder walked the board through annual departmental fee reviews and proposed updates to the county fee schedule. Schroeder said the county will remove the forfeited-property repurchase fee (state law changes), add a $100 registration fee for hemp edible retailers, codify a longstanding $20 TIF maintenance fee, increase a proposed jail event pay rate to $102 per hour per officer, propose a $1 per day firearm storage fee in the sheriff's office, and adjust solid waste nonresident fees and mattress/tire disposal rates.

Schroeder also described zoning and septic permit fee realignments — including making small deck/storage building permits a flat $100 and raising the minor-subdivision fee from $150 to $175 — and recommended recording a judicial-request removal fee up to $75 for the recorder's office. After discussion the board approved the fee schedule updates and a related resolution by voice vote; staff will publish the updated fee schedule and implement the new rates.
