Director of Teaching and Learning Valerie Gehrer presented the proposal as part of a larger teaching-and-learning update, describing it as an alignment of coursework and credentialing to better prepare students for technical and science-oriented postsecondary options. The board scheduled routine implementation steps to follow district policy; the district did not provide a specific effective date in the meeting minutes.
Board members said the change reflects a broader focus on career and technical education: Gehrer also outlined CTE completers, certifications and work-study information at the meeting. The board did not amend the proposal during discussion and approved it as presented.
