Staff seeks guidance as moratoriums extended; rules for fueling and EV stations expected in July

Planning Coordinator Pam Fechter informed Commissioners that ordinances extending current moratoriums had been placed at their seats: Ordinance 66-26 (Congregate Care), Ordinance 67-26 (Extended-Stay/Airbnb-type rentals) and Ordinance 68-26 (Car Washes and Self-Storage). She said the ordinances were forwarded to City Council earlier in the week to prevent gaps in coverage while staff finalizes draft legislation.
Fechter also told the Commission the city was working on proposed changes to regulations governing refueling stations and electric vehicle charging stations and hoped to bring the draft to the July Planning Commission meeting for review. Law Director John Gasior described the typical process: staff drafts legislation, the Planning Commission reviews, and the matter is forwarded to City Council for the formal three-reading process.
No formal action was taken by the Commission on those moratoriums during the meeting; the items had been placed with Commissioners for awareness as Council extended the moratoriums to maintain continuity in regulation.
