Avon approves pipeline relocation agreement with Columbia Gas for Chester Road widening

On June 22 Avon City Council unanimously adopted Ordinance No. 72-26 authorizing the Mayor to enter into a pipeline relocation agreement with Columbia Gas of Ohio, Inc., tied to the Chester Road widening project and to appropriate necessary funds. The ordinance was passed after suspension of the rules and a 6–0 roll-call vote.
Mayor Bryan Jensen told Council that the pipeline relocation is "only the first step" in the Chester Road widening, noting the City still needs to replace a culvert near the Pettiti Garden Center property before widening the roadway to five lanes. He also raised concerns about delayed sidewalk work and said he would press the contractor to begin work soon.
