Council Chair Phil Mendelson and members of the Council delivered tributes honoring Councilmember Donnie Crawford on her final meeting.
Mendelson recalled Crawford's selection process and described her as "authentic," citing her committee work and a key amendment on the juvenile curfew that helped secure votes. Multiple colleagues — including Councilmembers Allen, Parker, Fruman, Pinto, Henderson, Lewis George and Robert White — praised her rapid acclimation from staffer to elected member, her negotiating skill and her contributions during the budget process. Councilmember Allen said, "Service looks and comes differently at all of us... you have your call to service to this body." Councilmember Robert White thanked Crawford for jumping into budget work and for the impact she had in a short time.
Crawford responded emotionally, thanking her team by name and saying "This has been the honor of my life... I am going to miss this job." The Chair presented flowers and the meeting adjourned at 3:59 p.m.
Members emphasized continued support for Crawford in future endeavors.
