Councilmember Louis George moved an amendment that limits how district taxpayer dollars allocated to the Rock Creek Tennis Center may be used, specifying funds only for improvements necessary to bring the center into compliance with Association of Tennis Professionals and Women's Tennis Association tournament standards. He said the amendment responds to neighborhood concerns about district funds being used on federal property without adequate safeguards.
Louis George also required quarterly public updates from the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development detailing work progress and impacts on nearby residents and businesses. The chair accepted the amendment as friendly and incorporated the language into the ANS.
