County clerk reports 4,497 votes in Aug. 4 primary; audit and canvass scheduled

Jennifer Dayton, Dickinson County Clerk and election officer, told commissioners that preliminary returns for the Aug. 4 primary showed 4,497 total votes counted so far: "3,455 votes on election day, 921 early voting in person, and then 121 mail ballots received." She added there are 72 provisional ballots to be reviewed and that some mail ballots remain in the three-day grace period and will be included if postmarked on or before election day.
Dayton said she would update the posted results again the next day and reminded commissioners that the post-election audit was scheduled for the following morning and the official canvass the next Friday at 9 a.m. She pointed residents to county results on the elections page at www.dkcoks.gov for full details.
