Council excuses two members and enters executive session after passing emergency measures
Summary
At the June 29 special meeting the council voted to excuse two members (Greenfield and Mann) and, after adopting three emergency ordinances, voted to enter executive session under charter Article 15, Section 3 to consult with the city attorney; the mayor and law director were invited.
Early in the June 29 meeting the presiding officer moved to excuse Councilwoman Greenfield; the motion was seconded, the clerk called the roll and the motion passed. The presiding officer then moved to excuse Councilwoman Mann; that motion also passed.
After the council approved emergency Ordinances 26-43, 26-44 and 26-45, the presiding officer moved to enter executive session under charter Article 15, Section 3 for a conference with the city attorney regarding federal law or state statutes. The motion was seconded, the clerk called the roll and the motion carried; the council invited the mayor and the law director into the executive session.
The meeting record indicates routine procedural votes to suspend reading requirements and committee referral rules for the three ordinances and formal roll-call approval of each ordinance before the council recessed into executive session.
