Parent Court Rubinsky presses Holland Central board for transportation help to Harkness Center

Court Rubinsky, granted privilege of the floor, urged the Holland Central School District to resolve ongoing transportation problems for her daughter, who attends a BOCES program at the Harkness Center.
"This is a BOCES program at the Harkness Center... As of Friday and as of today, I thought we had a really good viable solution, that being, transport a student, my daughter, to the Harkness Center. She would drive herself to East Aurora... and then East Aurora is gonna transport her at no cost to the Harkness Center and back," Rubinsky said, recounting that the arrangement had been rescinded and asking the board to help seek alternatives, including contacting nearby districts such as Iroquois.
Board members recognized the concern and later revisited the issue during the board round table. Administrators said they had called East Aurora and that the contract-holder (1st Student) "will not" transport and did not provide a fee; administrators described Harkness as outside the district's territory and noted limited driver availability. Board members said they would continue exploring options and seek clarification from contract holders and neighboring districts.
