Comptroller Tony Tracy told the Council the city has begun the 2026 budget preparation cycle: department worksheets were distributed, department heads will meet with the city manager and comptroller through September, the city manager will receive the tentative budget Sept. 1, the Council will receive the budget on Oct. 1, and staff proposed a public hearing Oct. 27 and a final vote Nov. 10.
"So the final budget vote would be on November 10," Tracy said. He distributed a packet outlining additional budget meetings (Sept. 29; Oct. 8; Oct. 15; Oct. 21) for department reviews and recommended scheduling the hearings and vote dates so departments and the public can plan for input. Council accepted the proposed schedule.
