The Planning Commission voted July 8 to grant final site plan approval for a proposed light manufacturing/auto repair shop at 614 South Street after the applicant incorporated previously requested safety and building code measures into the plan set.
JB Hernandez, the project's architect, and counsel reported the plan set had been updated to include pedestrian warning signals tied to garage operations, a flag person for reversing vehicles, mechanical ventilation and a vapor (fire) barrier and carbon monoxide monitors. "We agreed to all of those conditions," Hernandez said, summarizing the changes the commission asked for at the prior review. Commissioners confirmed the items circled in red on the plan set matched their earlier requests and moved to close the public hearing and approve the final site plan.
The commission's vote followed staff confirmation that prior concerns had been added to the drawings; members noted these measures address pedestrian safety at the garage entrance and internal fire/vapor separation. The planning staff will include the red‑circled items requested by commissioners as conditions to be verified during building permit review.
