DRB hears design and landscaping updates for Habitat site plan, continues to August

Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity presented updated site plans for SP 2607, reorienting two fourplex buildings to address Spear Street setbacks and providing additional design detail to match the neighborhood context.
"We shifted our two fourplexes closest to Spear Street, roughly 30 feet to the east," the project's engineer said, noting parking reconfiguration and updated elevations. Staff and board members praised the revised images and agreed that the plan generally responds to prior feedback.
The board also reviewed utility and amenity items: applicants confirmed one EV parking space (4% per the chosen regulation), offered a yard hydrant for the proposed community garden, and said they would show underground power drops and provide bicycle-storage details. City arborist comments prompted a species and placement discussion; applicants agreed to adjust street-tree species and move sensitive sugar maples off the public right-of-way where possible.
Because several items remain to be finalized (legal check on roadway-trigger language, final utility confirmations, arborist details and landscaping budget reconciliation), the board continued SP 2607 to August 4 for a mid‑point check and to allow staff to review outstanding revisions.
