Board backs May 29 outreach to register 17-year-olds who will be 18 by Nov. 3

Chair and staff discussed an outreach plan to register 17-year-old students who will turn 18 before Nov. 3 so they can participate in the Aug. 11 nomination process. Chair described a May 29 cap-and-gown handout event and urged members to staff short shifts: "If you are 17 and will be 18 by, by November 3... then please, you know, consider signing up to vote in the August 11 primary," the Chair said, explaining the outreach would inform eligible students that they can participate in the federal nomination process but cannot vote on local bond questions on that day.
Members agreed to the May 29 date as preferable to a June 3 alternative, assigned volunteers for two-hour windows, and asked staff to prepare signage and totems with district maps for the lobby table. The Chair said the group would coordinate with the clerk and county board to finalize materials and messaging.
