Commissioners approve Essink conditional use permit for 20.1-acre Syracuse-area parcel

The board approved a conditional use permit for Dennis Essink to build a residence on a roughly 20.1-acre parcel in the E ½ NE ¼ of 24-8-11, east of Syracuse at the southwest corner of 36th Road and J Road.
Dennis Essink stated his son plans to build the home; county staff reported that water service, Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) and the Otoe County Planning Commission had approved the application. No public comments were made during the hearing.
Commissioner Freshman moved to approve the permit, Commissioner Parsons seconded, and the motion carried unanimously with Parsons, Crownover, Cole, Sornson and Freshman voting aye.
