When the council approved the consent agenda June 1 it included a quitclaim deed that transfers a small force main back to the Sadie Lane homeowners association. Staff explained the background: the city previously accepted neighborhood infrastructure but the historic deed included a force main that the city does not want to maintain because it serves only two homes and runs under a porch; the city will retain the stormwater pond and most infrastructure while deeding that limited force main back to the property owners.
Colin McNeil, the city attorney, told the council the approach avoids re‑writing a decades‑old deed and instead accepts the originally granted infrastructure and immediately deeds back the small unused component. Public Works Director Tom DiPietro described the force main as serving only two houses and located in a constrained position; he confirmed the city is keeping the primary pump station and stormwater pond. The consent agenda motion carried and the items were approved as presented.
