Hopkinton board adopts 2025 budget, keeps levy under tax cap

The Town of Hopkinton unanimously adopted its 2025 budget Nov. 7 after rolling over $18,295.70 in CHIPS funds and approving line-item adjustments for the Justice Clerk, grant writer and central data processing.
Supervisor Wood called a public hearing on the preliminary 2025 Town of Hopkinton budget at 7:00 p.m. and reviewed the proposal, noting that “the present preliminary budget was under the 2025 tax cap.” The public hearing was closed by motion and the board immediately convened a special meeting to finalize budget business.
At the special meeting the board authorized rolling over unused 2024 CHIPS funds and approved several line-item changes: the Justice Clerk salary increase was reduced by $1,350, the Grant Writer contractual expense was reduced by $2,500, and the Central Data Processing contractual line item was increased by $3,850 to cover additional protection needs. With those adjustments the board, by motion of Councilperson French and seconded by Councilperson Eakins, adopted the Preliminary 2025 budget as the Final 2025 Town of Hopkinton Budget for 2025. The adoption passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 8:51 p.m.
