During the meeting’s opening, middle-school students showcased a woodworking project of handmade wooden coasters produced by 8th-grade students in the technology shop.
A student presenter explained the coasters were handmade and engraved in the Holland colors; the presenter also noted that 6th-grade art students contributed written thank-you notes. "These are all handmade award appreciation month by our 8th grade students," a student presenter said during the showcase. Staff cautioned some coasters might retain a bit of mineral oil from finishing and suggested care instructions.
Board members accepted the presentation and thanked students for the gesture; the item served as a community-education highlight at the start of the meeting.
