Board approves senior class trip to Catskills after student-led planning

Justinger told the board the class had voted between a high-cost Disney option (about $2,000 per student) and a more affordable trip (about $500). She summarized the planning process, fundraising history and optional add-ons. “So with your permission, we would love to go to the Catskill Mountains,” Justinger said. She noted the trip dates (Jan. 29–31), included activities and that costs vary based on how many students participate; optional skiing or snowboarding is an additional $40. The board later approved the requested senior field trip as presented.
The presentation described an existing fundraising program (gift-card sales and prior years’ campaigns) and fund balances for students: Justinger said 13 students had $200 in accounts, one had $300, one had $400 and two had about $600 toward the trip. She also told the board the bus is fully refundable and the resort has agreed to reschedule in case of a snowstorm.
The board approved the trip by voice vote after a motion to accept the senior field trip resolution. The motion was moved and seconded and recorded as carried in the meeting transcript.
