Hopkinton accepts 2025 preliminary budget, sets Nov. 7 public hearing

Supervisor Wood and the board accepted the proposed 2025 Town of Hopkinton Preliminary Budget and scheduled a public hearing and special meeting for Nov. 7, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Burns moved to accept the proposed budget, Ms. Rust seconded, and the motion was approved unanimously.
During discussion the board noted the proposed budget stood about $20,000 under the tax cap. By motion of Ms. French, seconded by Ms. Rust and contingent on advice from counsel at the Association of Towns, the board opened a re‑evaluation Reserve Fund totaling $20,000 to support assessment-related work. The board also noted the SLIC tax case was extended to November 2024 and that final Town Hall renovation costs will be available next month. The board approved the preliminary budget and the scheduling motion without recorded opposition.
