Board members reviewed a city manager letter inviting the agencies to partner on coordinated tourism and destination-marketing activities. Matthew summarized recent agency work—logo development, DRI-funded marketing planning and the culinary workforce program—and stressed the letter was an invitation to explore a fundraising/marketing model, not a direct request for agency funds.
“so it really be to present a program to the agencies to see 1 is illegal, 2 is it desirable, 3 is it meet the test of Justin Miller review,” Matthew said, describing the need to evaluate legality and municipal requirements. Justin noted the PFDC has a 501(c)(3) determination and could accept tax-deductible contributions, which would help structure sponsorship packages and recognition tiers for businesses.
Members discussed whether the PFDC or PLDC should lead a fundraising effort; several suggested partnering with existing local groups like the chamber or BID and creating tiered sponsorship levels. The board asked staff to arrange meetings with city counsel and the city’s human-services director (Jonathan Zamora) and to return with a draft approach for review.
