Board president to lobby in Washington on Impact Aid; board notes $13,000 NREL workforce grant

Board President and Superintendent Cheryl Mango-Paget told the board she will travel to Washington, D.C., in September to speak to Congress and meet with representatives on Impact Aid and Special Revenue Streams (SRS). Mango-Paget said county lobbyists believe SRS will pass soon and that they were optimistic Impact Aid could be signed before Sept. 30.
Mango-Paget also reported the district had been awarded $13,000 in workforce-development/curriculum funds through an NREL grant and that product installations associated with the grant would begin the following week. She noted the County Attorney’s Office would update protocols in response to Arizona Senate Bill 1437 and that County Attorney Ammon Barker will provide related training.
