Property owner says he has spent hundreds of thousands restoring homes; board cites aesthetic violations

Rolland Hoag of Maple Street told trustees he bought property in 2019 and has spent significant sums rehabilitating buildings there. He said he filed a FOIL request for any outstanding violations and was surprised to receive a notice from the village about the white house on his property because he believed previous complaints dated to 2019 had been addressed.
Attorney Bill Nikas explained that the complaint relates to aesthetics — broken windows and debris on the front porch — and recommended Hoag clean up the property. Hoag said he is working through the houses one at a time and that funds from selling one rehabilitated property would help complete repairs on the other.
