Alexander Parker presented an Eagle Scout project to the Richland Town Board on April 14 that would add trail safety and engagement features at the Haldane Center, including 3–4 outdoor fitness stations, 3–5 benches, bluebird boxes, native wildflower plantings and interpretive signs.
Parker said teams from his troop and community volunteers would handle construction, planting and logistics; he outlined a timeline that would begin with final planning and fundraising in the weeks after school ends and aimed to complete the work by July 22. He estimated a materials budget between $900 and $2,000 and said he would recruit local hardware stores and community fundraisers to contribute. Parker also said adult supervision would be on site for tool use and first‑aid information would be available.
Councilwoman Donna Gilson moved that Parker be allowed to proceed with the project; Councilman Larry Atkinson seconded. The board voted by roll call to approve the proposal (AYE). Parker will provide contact information to the supervisor’s clerk to coordinate permits and scheduling.
