Salt-shed project stalled by pending DEC mining permit, town to rebid

The Town's planned salt-shed project cannot proceed to construction until the state Department of Environmental Conservation issues a mining permit for the Polic property, the highway superintendent reported. Although SEQR (State Environmental Quality Review) work on the project is complete, the DEC approval remains outstanding and Mr. Balcom said the timeframe on the project is "terrible." Attorney Seiter will contact Assemblyman Will Barclay's office to seek assistance getting a response from the DEC.
Mr. Balcom told the board he will work with Kristy LaManche to prepare the bid package and rebid the salt-shed once the DEC matter is resolved. The minutes note that the DEC's mining permit is the current gating issue and that the town will not be able to proceed until the DEC responds.
