Union City Borough Council approved two ordinance amendments Sept. 16: technical and enforcement changes to Parking Ordinance 1137 and revisions to Zoning Ordinance 1118 that add definitions for redemption games and regulate accessory-structure use on adjoining lots.
The minutes describe the zoning amendment this way: "The proposed amendment provides for definitions and regulation of permitted use zones for redemption games, otherwise known as games of skill. It also adds section 701.04 to provide for use of accessory structures on adjoining lots." Councilor Steadman moved to approve the parking-ordinance changes; Councilor Kerns moved the zoning amendment; both motions were seconded and carried unanimously.
Officials said the parking changes restrict unlawful and disabled vehicles and update schedules I, II and IV with technical amendments. The zoning amendment introduces a new regulatory framework for redemption games and accessory structures; staff will implement the ordinances once codified and posted.
