Councilors voted Sept. 16 to advertise a proposed amendment to the borough’s tenant-registration requirements that would permit the borough to charge violators more than once in a year when they fail to provide required information.
Borough staff described the change as a procedural enforcement option intended to improve compliance. "Requesting to change the Tenant Registration to allow violators to be charged more than once a year when not providing required information," the draft amendment states. Councilor Steadman moved to advertise the amendment; Councilor Osborn seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The advertisement begins the public-notice process and will allow residents and landlords to comment before any ordinance is adopted.
