Chamber withdraws Memorial Park decorating request, trustees later approve Holiday Hop and parade contingent on insurance
Summary

Dan DiMoreno of the Chamber said he was withdrawing the Chamber’s formal request to decorate Memorial Park because the request would not be considered until Dec. 3 and volunteers could not mobilize in four days. "I just didn't feel that I should go out of my way to pay the extra money for this," DiMoreno said, noting volunteers and donations usually cover the event’s certificate of insurance (COI).
After public discussion, trustees moved to approve the Chamber’s 3rd annual Highland Hop at Memorial Park on Saturday, Dec. 7 (9 a.m.–4 p.m.) and a parade on Dec. 13 (5 p.m. from Buffalo Soldiers Field to Memorial Park) on the condition that the village be provided the necessary insurance coverage. The board’s approval was explicitly contingent on receipt of the required insurance documentation so the village’s insurer and risk needs are met.
