Mayor J. Bruton introduced a resolution to authorize a grant application to the Cultural Properties Restoration Fund for construction funding to repair a historic church. Mayor Bruton said staff located a grant for restoring historic properties and that the package is "a little over $400,000.00 and our match is about $67,000.00." Clerk/Manager Audrey Caufield added that the grant request is for construction only, noting the building previously received design funding and that consultants inspected the structure.
Caufield recognized consulting support, saying Molzen Corbin inspected the church and "it’s structurally sound to be rented, but if we don’t repair it soon it’s not going to be structurally sound." The council approved Resolution 2026-32 to authorize submitting the grant application; motion by Y. Garcia, second by M. Armenta, passed with three yes votes and one absent. (Transcript uses both spellings "Molen Corbin" and "Molzen Corbin" for the consultant; spelling is flagged in the audit.)
