Police chief reports 269 calls since June, cites training and foundation grants

Police Chief David Pernice reviewed department activity for July and the period June 1–Aug. 13, saying the department handled 269 calls in that interval, averaging roughly 3.63 calls per day. Calls included vehicle pursuits, protection-from-abuse orders, warrants, domestic incidents (one lasting overnight), drug activity, vandalism, burglary, and incidents involving suicide and mental health.
Chief Pernice said he and Officer Shelly attended Alert Active Shooter training July 24–25 hosted by Millcreek PD. He also reported applying to the Union City Community Foundation (UCCF) for four tasers and for security cameras covering additional sections of North Main Street; the UCCF awarded both requests.
