John Fontaine identified himself to the board as the township's new code enforcement officer and described steps taken since starting on Sept. 13. He said he is pursuing ORI authority through Armstrong 911 to run license plates and identify owners of abandoned vehicles and that he has issued eight violation notices so far, primarily for grass and weeds.
"I've been working with Sharon. We've finally got a cell phone," Fontaine said as he summarized outreach and enforcement steps; he added that letters have been mailed and that his plan is to allow 15 days for corrections before follow-up enforcement activity. Fontaine provided a township code email (code@gilpintwp.com) and said he will perform drive-by follow-ups and attempt in-person contact where necessary.
The board thanked Fontaine for joining the team and moved to accept the code-enforcement report. Fontaine said he will provide updates on corrections and continue working with township staff to process complaints and permits.
