Gilpin to seek reentry into county UCC after MDIA terminates inspection contract

Chair said the township could either identify a new building-code agency or send a letter to the county UCC to rejoin. The solicitor cautioned that rejoining the UCC requires administrative registration and a statewide registry entry that in some cases has been delayed by state processing. Despite the potential delay, the board voted to send the letter to the county UCC seeking re-entry.
The board also discussed practical issues around enforcement if the township is not listed on the statewide registry; the solicitor said enforcement via a county provider may not be possible until the registration is complete. Sharon was directed to draft and submit the rejoin letter to the county UCC and to share updates as the state registry action proceeds.
