The Story County Board of Supervisors approved Special Event Permit SE26-007 to authorize RAGBRAI's 2026 route through the county, with the standard condition that liability insurance be secured.
Marcus Amman, Senior Planner in Planning and Development, reported staff recommended conditioning the permit on liability insurance. The Board allowed public comment; Mollie Boersma of Milford Township spoke against the permit and, according to the meeting record, compared Story County to "Nazi Germany." Despite the objection, the Board voted to approve the permit with the stated conditions; the motion carried unanimously on a roll-call vote.
The approval includes the normal special-event conditions and the permit will be implemented following submission of required insurance documentation and any additional permitting requirements.
