District staff presented details on Grow Your Own (GYO) recruitment across adult and student pathways. Slides show 173 MPS staff completed a GYO inquiry form as of Jan. 17, multiple informational and recruitment events, 52 one-on-one meetings with potential participants, and collaborations with Communications, HR and university partners to build adult- and student-pathway pipelines.
Apprenticeship and residency data were provided: 69 apprentices (82% applicants of color) were listed with additional pipeline counts for other pathways; staff said FY26 budget requests will include positions for apprentices and residents (FY26 budget requires 29 apprentice positions and up to 20 special-ed teaching positions site-funded). Challenges noted include uncertain future financial resources for cohort sizes and alignment with partner institutions' application processes.
