The Minneapolis Board of Education approved school calendars for 2025–2026, 2026–2027 and 2027–2028 through Resolution 2025-0002. Director Lori Norvell moved the resolution; the motion passed on a voice vote with eight 'Aye' votes (Director Abdul Abdi absent).
The adopted calendars maintain the same number of student-contact days and hours as the current year, specify no school on the day before Thanksgiving, provide a two-week winter break (with one year reduced to nine days to avoid ending the year in the third week of June), vary professional development days, and state that there will be no school on certain religious observance days (Eid al Fitr, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Eid al Adha) when those days fall on a school day. The calendars assume an e-learning day plan is in place.
