Chair Collin Beachy called the Minneapolis Board of Education’s special annual organizational meeting to order on Jan. 6, 2025, and the board moved immediately to elect officers for the year. Greta Callahan nominated Collin Beachy for chair, Kim Ellison for vice chair, Lori Norvell for clerk and Abdul Abdi for treasurer; with no additional nominations, the board elected the nominees by acclimation.
The action formalized leadership for the board’s work in 2025 ahead of scheduled committee meetings and a packed calendar of agenda items. The election required no roll call vote because the officers were elected by acclimation, and the meeting proceeded to consider committee assignments and other organizational resolutions.
