District staff described progress using the Anti-Racist Culturally Sustaining (ARCS) Resource Review Tool. Slides said 90 ELA anchor texts for grades 6-12 have been reviewed and that the ELA Steering Committee is reviewing data to decide whether to adopt or reject anchor texts; staff cited difficulty recruiting student and caregiver reviewers from racially isolated schools as a primary challenge.
The ARCS rubric is already being piloted in high school science curriculum adoption and planned for the upcoming Personal Finance adoption. Staff listed next steps including gathering classroom input, broadening the reviewer pool, and adjusting the rubric after pilot feedback.
