District staff told the Committee that Open Up Math implementation focuses on culturally sustaining math practices; quarter-two look-fors targeted Mathematical Practices 1 and 3, with look-for completion rates at about 50% and 42% of teachers completing Unit 1 data. Staff listed limited time with K-5 educators, language accessibility, and initiative fatigue as primary challenges and proposed raising completion rates to at least 75% and building a system to report assessment data districtwide.
Middle-grade i-Ready diagnostics have been administered districtwide, with an 86% response rate on monthly teacher surveys and 67% of teachers reporting they were on pace or able to get back on pace as of December. Staff said the next steps include principal PD to discuss mid-year data and individual site supports for teachers and administrators.
