Council hears complaint about contractor damage to Preserve trees; town hall renovation mostly complete

Vice Mayor Marion Chateau-Flagg told the council that resident Tom Lisi reported Plantwell's weed-eating activities had damaged the bases of several trees in The Preserve. Lisi submitted an approximately $300 bill for the damage about two months ago and, according to Chateau-Flagg, has received no response from Plantwell.
Chateau-Flagg said the Preserve is now about 90% native vegetation after past volunteer work and that she plans to approach Plantwell to request payment or clarification. The council discussed possibly placing pavers around about 20 small trees to protect them long term.
On a separate unfinished-business item, council members said the town hall interior renovation work is largely complete with only paint touchups remaining. The council reached consensus not to paint the barn doors, to apply a sealer instead, and to avoid adding a bottom track because the floor is uneven; Council Member Kathleen Hoock requested council consider sealing the floors as a next step.
